I don't know how to check if the mimic is ticklish. I always click on the chain a few times yet I don't hear any laughing.(edit: you'll hear a small huh huh sound)

For red chests, try checking the book, clicking the hinge, some basic chest checking (blood, chain, material).

Not sure if it's a bug but the enemies are invulnerable until they start shooting at you.
